The Eden Valley Mixed Golf Tournament (EVMGT) is open to golfers who have a current WHS Handicap Index and are members of an Affiliated Golf Club.
The handicap index limit is 28 for Gentlemen and 36 for Ladies. WHS/CDH numbers will be required as part of the booking process and proof of current handicap must be provided at registration.
The competition is to be played in accordance with the Rules of Golf as approved by the R&A and the local rules of Appleby, Brampton, and Penrith Golf Clubs, as provided on their score cards, and any other information provided at check in at each course.
The mixed pair’s tournament is played over the three courses over the three days. The playing format on each day is Four Ball Better Ball (4BBB) with Stableford scoring. Players score using 85% of their Course Handicap, with gentlemen playing from the Yellow / Black tees and Ladies from the Red / Gold tees. Gentlemen and Ladies play from their respective par and stroke index as indicated on the score card for each course. If you are unable to score on any hole, please pick up your ball to keep a good pace of play, and keep up with the four ball in front of you at all times. Remember the time for a ball search is 3 minutes (Rule 18.2); play provisional balls if in doubt.
Participants shall adhere to the dress code policy in effect for each club. Please check each club’s published dress-code policy
A player may obtain distance information by use of a distance-measuring device. If, during a round, a player uses a distance-measuring device to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect play (e.g. elevation changes, wind speed, etc.), then the player is in breach of Rule 14-3 and therefore such devices are not allowed in the EVMGT.
The use of buggies is subject to availability (on a first come first served basis and arranged directly with the individual Golf Club). Buggies will only be permitted with prior consent of the EVMGT based on production of a medical certificate.
Tee times for each day at each course will be confirmed with competitors at registration, however in circumstances outside the organising committee’s control adjustments may have to be made as the tournament progresses. Please arrive at each club at least 30 minutes before your scheduled tee time, and be ready to play, at the first tee, at least ten minutes before your allocated time.
Before play, check that your card is correctly completed with names, current handicap index, course handicap and playing handicap completed. Please record gross and Stableford scores for each hole. At the end of the round check your scores and sign both your card and the one that you have marked. Then place them in the competitions card box.
If you have any queries regarding your handicap, or the competition format, please clarify these prior to teeing-off with the tournament officials who will be available at each course.
If, for any reason one or more day’s golf has to be cancelled, the scores for that day’s golf, across all three courses will be null and void. Competitors will be given a voucher, valid for 12 months, for a free 2 ball round of golf at the course(s) where the competition/play was cancelled (subject to availability). Should the whole tournament have to be cancelled entrance fees will be refunded or carried forward to the following year’s competition. The EVMGT cannot be responsible for any other costs, such as for accommodation, if the tournament has to be cancelled or postponed.
Entrance fee is £150.00 per mixed pair and is payable on booking. Booking is available online via the Penrith Golf Club BRS with a closing date for entries of the 31st July 2022. Tee times for each course, on each day, will be posted on the tournament’s website at least one week prior to the start of the competition. Players attending in groups, on request via e-mail to the organisers, can be drawn to play at the same course as the rest of their group, but will not be drawn to play in the same four ball.
Should a pair need to withdraw from the tournament they are eligible to transfer their booking to the following year or receive a refund of 90%, however if the withdrawal is after the closing date for entries there is no refund.
Prizes for the Eden Valley Mixed Golf Tournament will be in the form of vouchers. A pair winning more than one prize over the week will only receive the prize with the highest monetary value.
Prizes will be to 5th place (dependent upon entry numbers), with trophies to the winners and runners-up, plus daily winner and runner-up prizes on each course. All prizes will be awarded at the presentation which is held after the final day’s play – please refer to the tournament programme for details.
If, on any day, at any course, scores are tied the daily prizes will be awarded on the result of a card play-off (CPO); the pair with the best score over the back 9, 6, 3 or 1 hole(s) and then the same process for the front 9 if required, are declared the winners. If the winners, or runners-up, are still tied after a CPO the prize(s) will be shared.
If the aggregated scores for the EVMGT are tied after three days play the prizes will be awarded to the pair with the best score on the ‘Arbiter’ course. The Arbiter course will be drawn at the start of the registration event and a notice displayed.
