Entries
The Eden Valley Mixed Golf Tournament (EVMGT) is open to amateur golfers who have a current and active WHS Handicap Index and are members of an Affiliated Golf Club.
The handicap index limit is 28 for Gentlemen and 36 for Ladies. WHS/CDH numbers will be required as part of the booking process, and to be eligible for the main and senior competition prizes, details of a current and active handicap based on at least five qualifying competition rounds must be available for verification if requested.
Entrance fee is £195.00 per mixed (one male, one female) pair and is payable on booking.
Booking is available online via the link on this website, with a closing date for entries of the 25th July 2025. Tee times for each course, on each day, will be posted on the tournament’s website at least one week prior to the start of the competition.
Players who form part of a larger group can be drawn to play at the same course as their friends, but will not be drawn to play in the same four ball. These requests must be made at the time of booking and are subject to the size of the group involved.
If you are booking on someone else’s behalf, it is your responsibility to ensure that they have also read and understood these terms and conditions.
Format
The mixed pairs tournament is played on three courses over the three days. The playing format on each day is Four Ball Better Ball (4BBB) with Stableford scoring. Players score using 85% of their Course Handicap, with gentlemen playing from the Yellow / Gold tees and Ladies from the Red / Blue tees. Gentlemen and Ladies play from their respective par and stroke index as indicated on the score card for each course.
Based on feedback from participants, for 2025 we have introduced a Seniors Division for players who are both 60 years plus on the first day of play, and they must indicate this on the online booking form when entering the competition.
The competition is to be played in accordance with the Rules of Golf as approved by the R&A and the local rules of Appleby, Brampton, and Penrith Golf Clubs, as provided on their score cards, as well as any other temporary rules provided at check in at each course.
Each course will run a daily nearest the pin competition on four selected holes. Prizes will be awarded at each course on the day when possible.
Buggies
The use of buggies is subject to availability, on a first come first served basis, and must be requested at the time of booking.
If a buggy is required after the time of booking, please contact us via our 'CONTACT US' page and we shall endeavour to meet your needs.
Welcome Event / Registration
The welcome event for the tournament will take place at Penrith Golf Club between 15:00 and 18:00 on Tuesday the 12th August 2025, with additional registration time for the tournament up to 21:00. All entrants who register at this event will receive a goodie bag and complementary raffle tickets for the presentation event draw. Full bar and catering facilities will be available at this event.
For those unable to attend this event, it will still be possible to register on the first day of play at the allotted course, but entrants who register in this way will not be eligible for a goodie bag or raffle tickets.
On the day of play
In circumstances outside the organising committee’s control adjustments may have to be made as the tournament progresses. Therefore, please arrive at each club at least 30 minutes before your scheduled tee time, earlier on the first day if not already registered, and be ready to play at the first tee at least ten minutes before your allocated time.
Before play, check that your card is correctly completed with names, and correct handicap.
If you have any queries regarding your handicap, or the competition format, please clarify these prior to teeing-off with the tournament officials who will be available at each course.
Please record gross and Stableford scores for each hole. At the end of the round check your scores, sign both your card and the one that you have marked and hand them to the competition scorer for entry into the computer.
Measuring Devices
A player may obtain distance information by use of a distance-measuring device. Devices which gauge or measure other conditions that might affect play (e.g. elevation changes, wind speed, etc.) are not permitted. (Rule 4.3a).
Dress Code
Participants shall adhere to the dress code policy in effect for each club. Please check each club’s published dress-code policy.
Safeguarding Policies
The policies for safeguarding are available to download from each club's website, or can be requested from the tournament organisers via the 'CONTACT US' page on this website.
Prizes
Prizes for the EVMGT will be in the form of vouchers. A pair winning more than one prize over the week will only receive the prize based on the highest monetary value and then their placing in a given division.
For the main competition, prizes will be to 6th place (dependent upon entry numbers), with trophies to 3rd place, plus daily winners and runners-up on each course. There will also be trophies and prizes for the winners and runners-up in the Senior Division (60+). These prizes will be awarded at the presentation which is held after the final day’s play at Penrith Golf Club – please refer to the tournament programme for details.
If, on any day, at any course, scores are tied the daily prizes will be awarded on the result of a card play-off (CPO); the pair with the best score over the back 9, 6, 3 or 1 hole(s) and then the same process for the front 9 if required, are declared the winners. If the winners, or runners-up, are still tied after a CPO the prize(s) will be shared.
If the aggregated scores for the EVMGT are tied after three days play the prizes will be awarded to the pair with the best score on the ‘Arbiter’ course. The Arbiter course will be drawn in public prior to the first day of play, and will be published on the EVMGT website and a notice displayed at each club.
Cancellations
Should a pair need to withdraw from the tournament prior to the 30th of June 2025, they are eligible to transfer their booking to the following year or receive a refund of 90%, however if the withdrawal is after this date there will be a 50% refund or transfer to the next year, provided we are able to fill the vacant space left by their withdrawal. Entries transferred from a previous year are not eligible for any refund.
If, for any reason one or more day’s golf has to be cancelled, the scores for that day’s golf, across all three courses will be null and void. Competitors will be given a voucher, valid for 12 months, for a free 2 ball round of golf at the course(s) where the competition/play was cancelled (subject to availability) and the distribution of prizes will be adjusted accordingly. Should the whole tournament have to be cancelled entrance fees will be refunded or carried forward to the following year’s competition.
The EVMGT cannot be responsible for any other costs, such as for accommodation, if the tournament as a whole, or any part thereof, has to be cancelled.
We strongly advise entrants to insure against loss of entry fees, accommodation and any other costs incurred should the competition be cancelled or they need to withdraw.
